Fall is in the air!!! Literally!!

This is one beautiful day!!!  Was outside early, around 8 a.m., the temps were in the upper 50's!  That is so unlike our usual weather for this time of year!!  The sun was out and my thoughts were running towards it being a somewhat warm day.  Well, so far I am wrong on that one!!  We are just getting to 70 degrees!    The Farmer's Almanac might have just called it right this year for our region (Southern Jersey).  Looking forward to fall!!

Well Monday signals the end of summer!!  For some of us, it will be leaving just as it entered.  Uneventful.  As I get older, I do not see things or enjoy things as I once did.  Summertime used to be waited upon like Christmas but without cold weather!  Memorial Day, and Fourth of July BBQs, where you would get to see those family and friends that only seem to come around when the grill gets lit!  Then there is the fishing and crabbing!!  If you went salt water fishing, you didn't do one without the other!  Fresh water fishing was different.  You learned how to fish, to be patient, and to be bored beyond belief.  Either way it got you out and away from the house for the day!!  It couldn't be all that bad if you got to get away for several hours!  Late summer was always the best!!  Why??  Back to School shopping!!  Who didn't like that? ( the parents didn't of course!) Would not be summer without the last BBQ of the season! Labor Day!!!!  We knew beyond a doubt that it was over.  School would start in a couple of days, and the wait would be on for the next summer.  Now??????  It came and went, nothing exciting.

Now for something funny!!!  Thanks for the share Homesteading Ways!!

A male driver is pulled over by a cop and the following conversation takes place: Man: What's the problem officer? Cop: You were going at least 75 in a 55 zone. Man: No sir, I was going 65. Wife: Oh Harry. You were going 80. (Man gives his wife a dirty look.) Cop: I'm also going to give you a ticket for your broken tail light. Man: Broken tail light? I didn't know about a broken tail light! Wife: Oh Harry, you've known about that tail light for weeks. (Man gives his wife a dirty look.) Cop: I'm also going to give you a citation for not wearing your seat belt. Man: Oh, I just took it off when you were walking up to the car. Wife: Oh Harry, you never wear your seat belt. Man: Shut your mouth, woman! Cop: Ma'am, does your husband always talk to you this way? Wife: No, only when he's drunk.

Have a Great Weekend!!!!!

my current WIP

Psalm 118:24New King James Version (NKJV)

24 This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Actually, everyday is the day the Lord has made!!!  To be thankful and to show our gratefulness is something to strive for!  I am thankful every morning that I open my eyes. Knowing that today might just be the day that I can impact someone's life other than my own, in a positive way.  I want to get to the point to where I can put myself on the back burner and tend to someone else's needs like I do my own. Some of us already get the opportunity to a certain extent when we have families.  What I am talking about, is outside of the family.  Helping people unknown to us.

I have been working on finishing a blanket to go with a set. The lightweight baby blanket is completed, now working on the heavier, larger blanket.  Trying to get my knitting mojo back!!!

Getting Hot!!!

We are getting seasonal temps finally!!  Today, August will feel like August!  We might even get into the 90s.. This morning was nice and cool, very comfortable!

Got some news today!!!  Sept 11th will be my last day of in home nursing services.   I am doing quite well and the service is no longer needed!!  It coincides with our moving date!!  Coincidence???  Possibly!!!  New place, new start.

It has been awhile!!!

Good Morning friends and family!!! First off, I would like to thank GOD for another day and everything He has done for me! Many do not know that this past year has been an especially hard one for me and my family. Today, the last Monday in August marks the 1 year anniversary of my Bladder Cancer diagnosis! I did not know that much about Bladder Cancer at the time, I just knew that some people got it. I did not know that it is a very aggressive cancer that has a high mortality rate. I do now!!! I went through all of the testing and probing necessary, but still did not get the information on what stage I was. I got the kind it was! (Squamus Cell) hopefully spelled it right! It took 5 long (very long when you are waiting) months to have my surgery. I had to have my bladder, ureters, uterus, cervix, ovaries, Fallopian tubes removed. Thank goodness I already had nephrostomy tubes inserted for my kidney functions!! Found out that it had spread to my left leg and had attached itself to my femoral artery. So I had an arterial bybass on my leg at the same time as the other surgery. Later I learned I was stage IV. By GOD's grace I made it!! Time to heal and get ready for the next phase of my journey (So I thought!!) I made my appointment with the Oncologist. Very nice Dr. Very nice! He let me know he made the decision to operate, usually he would have told the surgeons close it back up, but that day he didn't, and I thank him for that!!. Now we want the answer to the question that we've been waiting for since the diagnosis ~~~~ how much time do I have??? Well first he had better news I suppose. I was not a candidate for chemotherapy!!!! to many issues going on with my body, chemo would surely take my life!!! I was not feeling chemo that much anyway! what about my time????? His answer?? well we are going for QUALITY of life at this time. ooooooooook what does that mean??? It took some time and much prayer, but over time I came to take it as you live your best until you die!!! Everyone, and I mean everyone, has to die. What we have to learn to do is to live our absolute BEST before we do!!! So today I give GOD all the Glory!!! Without HIM there would be no 1st anniversary to celebrate!! Now I am working on getting back to knitting full time again. I missed it sooo much!!! My hands are better now, not so much cramping and I really need the calmness it brings. Please keep our family in prayer and I keep yours in prayer also! Have a beautifully blessed day!!! DBM
